An Australian destination is always a dream of any backpacker. In the Western Australia, one such dreamland is Perth that itself is dubbed to be the great holiday resort featuring Mediterranean climate for supporting all outdoor fun. Its beauty is felt by a few of the world’s ideal beaches, fine dining, and stay options for every budget. Things to do in Perth, therefore, are diverse, exciting, and soaking!
This sunny, mild, and energetic city is ever ready to welcome any visitor at any time, with any budget, and of any mood! In this article, you will come across some of the most fascinating things to do in Perth.
Among all the things to do in Perth that are meant for the people of all ages, visiting Kings Park and Botanic Gardens is most admired. Nestled outside the downtown on Mount Eliza, this vast parkland is thronged with the native bushland, several bird species, many local plant species, vantage points, picnic spots, the State War Memorial and statues, and walking and cycling tracks. I would recommend you to come here in summers so that you can also enjoy its outdoor concerts as well as its unique moonlight cinema.
Nobody can miss a trip to Perth Zoo accessible in 5 minutes from downtown. The main attractions here are Rainforest animals, the African Savanna; the nocturnal house; and the Asian rainforest besides animal and bird greets. It is very much recommended to carry a map available from the ticket counter. This zoo becomes a special place in summer due to its many events. As a tip, for more fun, cook a barbeque meal here itself.
Just walk for 5 minutes from downtown so that you know about one more famous attraction – the Burswood Park. In this picturesque park, tourists including me love to go for all the recreational activities. Besides barbeques, here you can cycle, jog, or amble in cool air below the shady tree canopies for a natural revival. The highlights here are bird life, Swan Fountain, Swan Shell, legacy trail holding many legendary sculptures, and barbeque amenities. For best experience, I suggest to take a guided tour from the visitor information centre for free at 11.30 am daily.
If you are a pedal lover, then cycling in Perth is one of the best memories you will take home. There are world-class bike paths along with suitable weather anytime that appeals to each pedal fan. These flat paths are very picturesque as they follow the Swan River. There are three options for you – take your bike, rent it from near the River, or be a part of the Bluetongue Bike Tours.
Coming to the beaches, just do not miss the Shark Bay that is a nature reserve too and Cottelsloe Beach of the western suburb drawing a myriad of visitors each year. One of the not to be shocked facts about food here is that Perth hardly caters to the vegans and that there is no concept of late night dining here! Yes, this is true! One of the famous restaurants here is Fremantle for is Cappuccino strip. For some diverse options, be at the Northbridge where European and Asian flavors scent the air. This area gets crowded on weekends due to party mood of the people here.
Weather in Perth is mostly sunny and mild featuring dry as well as hot summers making Perth a perfect outdoor fun destination. The best time to come here is during Spring (September through November) and Autumn (March through May). For sight-seers as well as beach goers, autumn is best.
There are many stay options in Perth. However, for people like me with budget trip, they can choose to stay in Novotel Perth Langley starting from $319, Indian Ocean Hotel starting from $92, and The Marque Hotel starting from $196.
